Private School Evaluations

Psycho-educational evaluations can be beneficial for parents considering a private or charter education setting. These evaluations target academic-related information that provide private, charter, or religious schools nationally normed current levels of functioning that aid in placement determination.

Testing Accommodations

A diagnosis of a psychological disorder alone does not qualify a student for educational accommodations such as extended time on tests.  A comprehensive psycho-educational evaluation is required by law to determine if a student has a disability and if it meets the criterion of a functional limitation.  A student’s academic and behavioral history will be thoroughly reviewed when assessing for accommodations. Following the evaluation, you will be given a report to submit to a school or standardized testing agency (e.g., ETS, College Board, ACT, MCAT, GRE) for accommodations, if deemed appropriate.

Speech and Language Testing

We also offer speech and language testing by a licensed speech language pathologist (SLP). Language difficulties typically go hand in hand with other learning based disabilities. If these concerns do exist, Dr. Young will collaborate with and often co-evaluate your child with our licensed SLP. This is not only clinically effective but is also helpful for families by reducing the amount of time taken for additional appointments and traveling to different offices. Recommendations will be the result of the collaborative effort from both evaluators, thus giving the family a cohesive document to take to the school or therapy provider. The feedback session will also be scheduled with both evaluators to save your family time.

School Consultation Services

Consultation for school related services including, Individualized Education Plans (IEP), 504 accommodations, Exceptional Student Education (ESE) eligibility or placement are offered. This service typically occurs over one session via telephone or virtual platform.

Please schedule a consultation appointment if you would like assistance navigating school-based processes, have questions and wish to receive direct answers, and/or would like another opinion on next steps.
